Invisibugs

Hello Sweetness,

It’s actually a wildly common condition – the delusion of infestation.

And I’m suffering from a bad case of the itchies. It started with a case of nits brought home from school a couple of months ago. And they kept reoccuring and being a household with lots of hair, I had to keep treating. And all mothers reading this are rolling their groans because they know…

But I’m still itching.

Formication – a skin-crawling sensation that feels like insects walking across the skin.

The root cause of the sensations can be allergies, nutrition, stress, changing hormone levels. But in that itch reflex, my mind always goes straight to bugs.

There are only three insects that are parasites for humans – lice, scabies and those little mites that live in our pores but we don’t talk about because of the eww factor. But horror story: We all have them!

The 2 lessons I take from this:

  1. We are all an ecosystem within another
  2. We can still physically feel things that just aren’t there.

A.
